Reasons to
use MC 200 :
- Increased Efficiency
- Much harder deposits,
op to 72 Rockwell C
- Finer crack pattern
increases lubricity
- Improved corrosion
resistance
- Brighter finish
- Reduced built
up of trees and nodules
Deposit Hardness
Hardness is one
of the most important properties of a chromium deposit in industrial
applications. A slight increase in hardness of any part will greatly
extend its usefull life even under extreme wear conditions. The MC 200
bath will increase the deposits hardness up to 10 points on the Rockwell
C scale compared to conventional baths. This increase was determined
by tests and confirmed by results of platers using the MC 200 process.
Wearability
The increase in
wearability of MC 200 hard chrome is due primarily to the increased
hardness and micro strcuture of the MC 200 deposit. The improved surface
finish and lack of pitting also accounts for the increased wearability
and serviceable life from the use of MC 200.

Micro Crack
Structure
The great number
of cracks in the MC 200 deposits account for the improved lubricity
of MC 200. Also in many cases the cracks from a standard hard chrome
bath continue down to the base metal which accounts to poor corrosion
resistance. MC 200 cracks are discontinous.
Corrosion
Resistance
MC 200 plated parts
will far out-perform those plated in conventional baths under outdoor
and mildly corrosive atmospheric conditions. This resistance to corrosion
is due primarily to the superior crack pattern, density and structure
of the MC 200 deposits.
